March Updates
Hello Grade One Families,
We've gotten some whispers of it already - spring is on the way. You heard it right!
March is the start of spring which also means the clocks spring forward, flowers bloom, and people get excited for the warmer months ahead. This goes the same with the Grade One class, we can't wait for a whole bunch of upcoming activities in our classroom.
But first, here's a look back of what we did last February as one of our I Love to Read Month activities. I promised to give you a snapshot of our display board, so here you go.
Below is a picture of our 'craftivity" that is based on the book called, "The Giving Tree" by Shel Siverstein.
This month, our focus in Religion is on the Lent Season. We will be making a Lent Lapbook and completing the Lenten Calendar Challenge. We talked about ways of showing love for Jesus by doing something for Him each day. And so our challenge is to complete the "My 2025 Lenten Calendar", where they color a cross each day to match the good deeds like saying an extra prayer, helping someone, doing something good that is hard to do, or doing something without being told.
In Science, the class will wrap up the Characteristics and Needs of Living Things unit by using a design process to design a representation of an environment that meets the needs of a Manitoba animal either through a poster/diorama, shoebox diorama, or a triorama.
In Social Studies, we will start looking at a new cluster, Connecting with Others. We will be learning about rights and responsibilities in the school and community and describe various ways in which people depend upon and help one another.
Before I end, I have an exciting news to share with you. In December, the Knights of Columbus held a Poster Making Contest with a theme, "Keep Christ in Christmas", and the first prize winner came from the Grade One class. A big Congratulations to Kings Ikhienarolor for winning the contest, yahoo!! We're so proud of you.
March will surely fly by, and before we even know it, it will be time for spring break.
I wish everyone will have a relaxing, enjoyable, and productive break. We look forward to find ways to keep the learning going.
Peace and blessings,
Mrs. Talaroc
